Patent Herbs in Tea Pills: $10
Hundreds of Chinese herbal formulas are so commonly used, the formulas are mass produced in China. They make the tea and add starch to turn it into pills and bottle it. We only buy high quality patent herbs and we have found that our patients respond well to these traditional formulas.

Da Huang Pills for constipation: $60 for a 1 month supply
Da Huang is so effective for constipation that we have it made into tea pills. There are many herbs on the market for constipation that cause cramping. At a normal dose, Da Huang is gentle and healing to the colon. Plus, it clears blood stagnation from the urinary and reproductive systems--which is a benefit that no other constipation remedy has. Da Huang is ideal for chronic constipation. Patients report that they recover their normal bowel movements and no longer need it after a relatively short period of time. It's not for use in lactating women, since it enters the breast milk.
Custom formulas: prices depend on the herbs used and whether it is an herbal decoction, powder or tea pills.
Formula writing is a skill that few Acupuncturists take the time and effort to master. At Pura Vida, Jose is our expert in formula-writing. After a thorough intake and history, he writes the herbal formula and it is brewed and put into single-serving tea bags or tea pills. The purpose of writing a custom formula is for the patient to have herbs that fit their needs exactly. For example, if the patient wants to lose weight and he or she is tired, both problems should be addressed concurrently. The beauty of Chinese Medicine is that each patient is considered unique and needs their own treatment plan. Our patients like the custom formulas because they are effective and easy to use.
