Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine treatment that involves the insertion of metal needles into certain meridian lines along the body. The needles allow what is called chi to flow through these meridian lines to the organs and muscles they are connected to. After a diagnosis has been reached, the clinician will choose the most effective acu-points for your condition. There are many different types of acupuncture which can be more or less effective for different conditions. The methods employed by Pura Vida are listed below.
Electroacupuncture
This is a form of acupuncture where a small electric current is passed through pairs of acupuncture needles. It is also referred to as Percutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (PENS). This process enhances the efficacy of regular acupuncture, is especially useful in pain control and nerve-related problems.
Auriculotherapy
This is a form of acupuncture that uses acu-points along the ear to treat various ailments. The most common use of this treatment is to aid patient in overcoming drug dependency.
Korean Hand Acupuncture
This relatively new form of acupuncture focuses on the hand as a microsystem of the entire body. By applying acupuncture to certain parts of the hand, chi can flow to other parts of the body.
Eye Acupuncture
Another form of acupuncture that relies on the eye as a microsystem of the body.
Scalp Acupuncture
A form of acupuncture focused on the scalp as a microsystem of the body. This method is particularly useful for nervous-system disorders and spinal injury.
